Skills Training
Training
Chorda provides a full range of collaboration and conflict management courses. Our training is unique in several ways:
-
Courses address the needs of employees, managers, and specialists to assure relevance, productive delivery, and retention of learning.
-
All of the courses are skills-based, with immediate practical application in the real world.
-
Courses are linked by a foundational communication/conflict management model that creates a common language in the organization and reduces uncertainty about how to initiate and respond to concerns constructively.
Chorda Courses
MAP® Training: Provides an introduction to collaboration and conflict resolution. This three-hour course equips everyone in an organization—from the boiler room to the boardroom—with concepts and skills for conflict resolution at work. Beginning with a pre-test for concepts and at-work behavior, the course combines case material and examples with intensive hands-on training in the three-stage Chorda MAP Model, designed for initiating a complaint or problem-solving process and/or responding to a complaint in a constructive manner. The model is built upon an interests-based approach using communication skills effective in all situations, with attention to diversity and cross-cultural issues common in domestic and global organizations.
Collaboration Skills: Teaches managers skills to strengthen team, customer and partner relationships through collaborative methods. Built upon techniques used by professional negotiators and mediators in a variety of environments, this course (8-20 hour formats) presents a solid foundation for negotiation and the informal coaching of individuals and teams in how to use collaborative methods to resolve conflict and meet challenges at work.
Advanced Negotiation & Mediation: Offers an intensive, practical application of the five-stage negotiation and mediation models presented in Karl Slaikeu’s primer, When Push Comes to Shove: A Practical Guide to Mediating Disputes. A review of negotiation and mediation principles and skills is included in this 20-hour course, along with key topics such as mediator ethics, organizational negotiation and mediation, impasse resolution, and dealing with difficult people.
Orientation: Created for new hires and existing employees, this program provides information about your organization’s conflict management system in a user-friendly manner. Content is based on templates fashioned by Chorda, but tailored to meet the specific needs of each organization. Brochure and poster templates are provided, along with other materials for promoting the new program with employees.
Nuts & Bolts for Specialists: Teaches company specialists (attorneys, human resources, risk managers, internal mediators and ombudsmen) the “nuts and bolts” of performing their respective job responsibilities in light of the new system. Participants obtain a clear picture of their responsibilities along with an understanding of how they relate and work together with one another to best support their goals and the program.
